Hey guys!

As some of you may already know, our next podcast is going to be a bit different from previous chapters, in that we are going to be broadcasting LIVE over the Internet, as part of an event called Pride 48. I thought I’d do a quick blog just to let you know what we are going to be doing, and how you can go about joining us!

What is Pride 48?

The annual Pride 48 event takes place in June to coincide with Pride weekend, when many LGBT pride festivals take place throughout the world. During this weekend, the Pride 48 website will be streaming a full 48 hour long live podcasting marathon, where 40+ LGBT and LGBT friendly podcasters will present live shows specially for the event.

Why are you guys doing it?

After we were lucky enough to have the wonderful Sara and Rob from the How Much Do We Love podcast on our podcast Chapter 14 on Love, they gave us a really lovely “review” on their show, recommending our podcast to their listeners. From this, we found that we were being mentioned on a number of fantastic podcasts, such as The Daily Purge, Foul Monkeys, Big Fatty, Pink Wheelnuts, Live it Up!, and Archerr, (apologies if I have missed any out!) most of which would categorize themselves as gay podcasts. Big Fatty then asked people on his show to tweet us, requesting that we do a show for Pride 48. We were very happy to oblige, so contacted Arthur from Amerinz and set it all up!

As many of you will have already worked out from our various mentions of girlfriends/fiancees, we are not actually gay ourselves (despite the palpable homoerotic tension noticeable in all of our podcasts), but we would definitely class ourselves as a “LGBT friendly” show. I have always thought the pride festival is a fantastic thing, and am very happy to be a part of it!

What are you going to do?

We will be broadcasting LIVE via the Pride 48 website (and various other places, see below) for one whole hour, and presenting a slightly different kind of a show than our normal Podcast Chapters. Rather than this being an official Chapter with its own theme, we are going to use this as an opportunity to get more input from you guys, and talk about whatever subjects you

Flat 29 prepare to do some live podcasting. Sort of.

might like to hear about! As we are compiling this Big Book of Everything, we do have extensive knowledge on pretty much everything, and would be very happy to share it. We will be taking discussion topics on the night, plus via email, twitter, and our facebook group.

We’ll also be revisiting things we didn’t get around to covering in our previous chapters, plus do all the usual features of songs, quizzes and more!

Expect live song performances, cake, Professor Winston, and the triumphant return of Challenge Charlie!

How can I listen?

The show will take place at 8PM EDT (GMT/UTC -4), which is 5PM PDT on Saturday, June 26th, 2010. This is great if you live in the US! If you, like us, live in the UK, you will have to stay up to the much more unsociable hour of 1am (London Time) on Sunday June 27th (so thats the Saturday night/Sunday morning). Silly, I know, but we’ll be doing it, and we’d absolutely love it if you fancied joining us!

There are many ways you can listen to Pride 48 from the Pride 48 website (select your preferred media player from the links in the top right. If you are on a PC, try Windows Media Player, if you are on a mac, try Quicktime.) You can also listen through iTunes – click on the “Radio” tab at the side, double click on “News/Talk Radio”, and select “Pride 48″ from the list. If you have an iPhone you can listen through a number of different radio apps.. the one I use is called TuneIn Radio, and costs about £1.19 I think. Just search for Pride 48 on there. Finally, if you have another kind of smartphone, visit the Pride 48 mobile site at http://m.pride48.com to stream it from there.

How can I get involved?

Rich considers a thought provoking Tweet

Log onto the Pride 48 chatroom on the night, to talk to us and contribute to the show! Alternatively you can tweet us during the event, @flat29 or @richjamesgreen.

If you can’t make the live show but still want to be involved, sent us your comments, questions, and suggested discussion topics via emailtwitter, and our facebook group.

What if I can’t make the live show? I might be asleep?

Sleep is no excuse, its a Saturday night! You can sleep in on Sunday, then wake up just in time for the England game! Ok, so you still might be asleep? Never mind, we will be putting the live show out as a podcast after the event. Obviously you won’t be able to contribute to the show when listening back to the podcast, but you will still be able to enjoy what I imagine will be a charmingly ramshackle show!

I can’t wait! See you there!

Okay! If you have any more questions, put it in the comments below. Otherwise, see you on the 26th!

Dan xx
